Respect The Shenandoah Campaign

The Shenandoah River and its Valley have long been regarded as among the most beautiful and majestic natural features of America. Did you know that the Shenandoah River/Potomac River provides drinking water for all of Northern Virginia and everything that goes into the soil goes into the water?  Those of us who live along and close to the river have an opportunity to protect our watershed for present and future generations. For many reasons, the river has suffered over the last few decades. Fish kills and algal outbreaks, associated with manure from unfenced herds of cattle and large poultry operations, make the river unhealthy and unpleasant for those hoping to enjoy it. And so, Mark Frondorf, our Shenandoah Riverkeeper, has launched the Respect the Shenandoah Campaign. LET’S GET INVOLVED!!

THE SHENANDOAH POTOMAC RIVER NETWORK – JOIN IN, SUPPORT THEIR WORK! The mission of the Shenandoah Potomac River Network is to protect the right to clean water for all communities and all those who live and rely upon the Potomac and Shenandoah watersheds by stopping pollution, making drinking water safe protecting healthy river habitats, and enhancing use and enjoyment for all.

Volunteer for the RECREATION COMMITTEE

We are working on building community and have lots of ideas but need “Boots on the Ground”!!! So far this year we have sponsored the Oral History of Shenandoah Farms Presentation and Potluck, The Community Day Yard Sale, with Music Food and Education with the Shenandoah River Keepers. August 24th is The Shenandoah River Clean -up Project, and we’d like to schedule more road and common  properties clean-ups, as well as events at the Community Center and Amphitheatre. We also need help with new ideas, publicity and technology improvement.
