Community Litter Clean-Up Day – Trash Free Shenandoah Week
Date: April 18th 2026
Time: ALL DAY – pick up supplies as needed 8-9 at POSF office.
Location: Your own neighborhood streets
Kick off Trash Free Shenandoah Week with a Community Litter Clean-Up Day on April 18 as
part of Earth Week! The goal of this effort is simple and powerful: each participant will clean
up litter along the sides of the roads nearest their own home. By focusing on the areas we see
every day, we can make an immediate and meaningful difference right where we live. When
everyone takes responsibility for a small stretch of roadway, our combined efforts create a
cleaner, safer, and more welcoming community for all.
How It Works
- Choose the roadsides closest to your home. Encourage neighbors and family members to participate.
- Come to the POSF office on April 18th if you need gloves, trash pickers, orange vests and trash bags. 8am-9am.
- Collect litter along the shoulders and grassy edges.
- Dispose of collected trash properly at this designated drop-off at Treasure Island. Return gloves, vests & pickers to HOA office before 2pm.
Safety Guidelines
For everyone’s safety, please follow these important guidelines:
- Wear gloves to protect your hands and reflective vests to be better seen by motorists.
- Clean up in pairs whenever possible.
- Do not enter the actual street — stay on the shoulder or grassy areas only.
- Do not wear earbuds or headphones so you can stay alert to traffic and your surroundings.
- Be mindful of sharp objects and avoid handling hazardous materials.
Together, we can take pride in our surroundings and show that small, local actions truly make a lasting impact. We look forward to seeing our community come together on April 18!
